This is to inform y'all that we Rubes will be going into the woodshed for the next month or so for some long awaited recording projects and will not be playing out until the end of May. However, this weekend you can get a little to buffet yourself up for the hiatus with a few options:
Tonight! Fri. April 16 at the Odeon Bar (3223 Mission SF)
the Mahatma appears with his estranged Hawaiian brother in the
Wink and Yoni Show! Wink and Yoni, the Punani brothers serve up PuPu platters of perverse penchants of song and merriment with their ever popular duo to help you grind to the Big Island rhythms. 10pm
then
Saturday night, April 17 at the Odeon Bar
Members of Rube Waddell will appear on the
Chris Carney Show as the
Armchair Geographers singing whaling songs and spinning yarns of tiger hunts in Indiah, inseminating rhinos in the Congo and riding rogue elephants in the Kalahari and much more! 10pm
then
Sunday night, April 18 at Amnesia (853 Valencia SF)
Lord Loves a Working Man, Max A. Million's proletarian soul machine, plays songs of the labor of love to the lumpen along with the Mahatma's
Az Iz Brass Band, a pseudo gypsy horn ensemble that will take you places you didn't know existed, dancing all the while. 9pm
then last but we hope not least...
on Tuesday night, April 20 at the Red Devil Lounge (1695 Polk St. SF)
the Mahatma will perform as himself,
Freddi Price, in a rare solo set opening for
Preacher Boy at his CD release show. It will be a solemn night of solo blues and dark passages into the somber side of the brain of he who has been called Mahatma, Wink, Freddi, You there...
Please come and bring your friends. It'll be, you know, special. 8pm
Van Kleef's was wonderful. I think soon and fast to become a kind of east bay home for us as it has for so many of our friends. Peter, the owner, seems to think we have "It" just like Tarantino and Brad Pitt!?!
Maybe the eight years of effort will pay off after all
We play with Baby Gramps this Friday at the Odeon. Anyone who likes Rube Waddell will love Baby Gramps. He's an inspiration to us all. Don't miss it. Quinton is gonna be there too....
We, the undersigned, are hereby announcing the performance of us! This Saturday at Oakland's newly famed
Cafe Van Kleef at 16th and Telegraph in the downtown. It seems to be the reason everyone is moving to Oaktown. It's a fine place run by some fine folks and a perfect cozy venue for getting your Rube Waddell on. That's:
Saturday, April 3 10pm
Cafe Van Kleef
1621 Telegraph Ave.
Oakland
Then, on Sunday, do come and check out the Mahatma as he pretends to be Freddi Price as Wink Pain playing solo as well as with his new brass ensemble the Az Iz Brass Band! Also playing will be Ruby Iron.
Sunday, April 4, 10pm
Amnesia

that is all,
the Rubes
